Thema 2009:
Bacterial small RNAs and their targets
Bacterial genomes encode not only protein coding genes, but also a
noncoding RNAs, typically of around 50 to 500 nt in length, called
small RNAs. These small RNAs perform regulatory functions, in most
cases by binding mRNAs and thereby regulating transcription,
translation, or mRNA stability.
A crucial step towords understanding the function of small RNAs is
therefore to identify their mRNA targets. We will therefore perform
target predictions for bacterial small RNAs using recently developed
methods.
